Erythema is an abnormal reddening of the skin resulting from the rush of excessive blood to the capillary vessels. Sometimes the cause of erythema is massage or intense experiences. In such cases, it is a physiologically determined phenomenon. Redness of the skin, which persists for a long time, is considered a pathology.
It arises as a result of:
various infections;
the influence of allergens;
physiotherapy procedures;
sunbathing, etc.
The symptoms of erythema depend on the clinical form. Nodular (nodular) erythema, in which the body temperature rises to 39 degrees, is characterized by weakness, headaches, the formation of bright red painful nodules on the legs, which disappear within 2-3 weeks.
Exudative erythema, which is characterized by sore throat, fever, feeling of weakness, head and joint pain, swelling in the joints. In addition, a rash appears on some parts of the body (palms, forearms, legs, feet) and mucous membranes. In this case, the appearance of not only pink spots, but also papules filled with serous contents, which have the peculiarity of bursting, forming bleeding ulcers, is noted. This form of the disease is considered extremely dangerous, as it can cause death.
Infrared erythema that occurs due to heat exposure. It manifests itself as a pigmented reticular rash that is localized in the lower extremities.
Infectious erythema, which is characterized by severe headache that occurs during the acute onset of the disease. The rash mainly affects the buttocks and folds of the limbs. Peeling of the skin is noted on the affected areas of the body after the rash has disappeared. Sometimes the symptoms of this form of erythema are swelling and pain in the joints.
In addition, such forms of erythema as migratory, sudden, X-ray and persistent erythema are known.
