Acne, in the common people - acne, also known as acne vulgaris (acne vulgaris), acne, pimples, etc., in fact, is a skin pathology in which hair follicles and sebaceous glands are clogged with fatty secretions and dead cells of the epidermis. As a result, acne appears on the surface of the skin, and, as a rule, they are localized on the face, forehead, chest, upper back and shoulders. Acne is most common among adolescents, although not uncommon among people of other ages. Acne (acne) is a skin disorder characterized by clogged pores with sebaceous secretions, dust and sweat. The disease most often occurs in adolescents (in about 90% of cases), however, acne may also appear in adulthood, due to hormonal changes in the body.
Disease symptoms
The disease can manifest itself in the form of clogging of the enlarged pores of the skin by excessive production of the secretion of the sebaceous glands. Then we are talking about comedones, or blackheads. The black "cap" of comedones appears as a result of dirt and dust getting into the pores. Also, whiteheads (comedones of a closed type, inside a pore) may appear on the surface of the skin. In more advanced cases, the skin is covered with large, bright red painful rashes, with a pustule in the middle. When the abscess is squeezed out, as a rule, the disease only worsens and leads to even greater rashes. When deep cavities filled with purulent contents appear on the surface of the skin, we are talking about the cystic form of acne, after which the patient has deep scars on the skin.
Treatment of the disease
Acne treatment is aimed at eliminating the cause of the rash. If acne appears against the background of a violation of the level of hormones in the body, then the patient is assigned a consultation with an endocrinologist, who selects drugs that normalize the hormonal background. In case of diseases of the digestive tract, the patient is prescribed a consultation with a gastroenterologist and correction of the diet. With a severe course of the disease, the patient is shown a course of antibiotic therapy. The duration of therapy and the daily dose is determined by the doctor, depending on the degree of skin damage and the individual characteristics of the patient's body. To dry the pustules, local treatment is prescribed with antiseptic solutions and zinc-based ointments. A good effect is observed with physiotherapeutic treatment - irradiation of the affected areas with a quartz lamp.
Diet and lifestyle
People prone to acne should remember that their skin condition depends a lot on their diet. It is better to limit chocolate, baked goods, black coffee and strong tea, alcohol, spicy foods, animal fats. The diet should include fresh vegetables and fruits, wholemeal bread, cereals. Instead of animal fats, it is better to add olive or sunflower oil to food. In the absence of contraindications, you need to consume at least 1.5 liters of clean water per day.
